Life on full sail!

About the peculiarities of sailing and possible ways of its development - in an interview with the master of sports, champion of Russia in the Dragon class Artem Kuznetsov.

Today, sailing is becoming increasingly popular in Russia. Traditionally, this sport is considered royal. King Constantine II of Greece, King Juan Carlos II of Spain, Prince Henrik of Denmark, Prince Albert of Monaco are the most famous sailing enthusiasts today. Their example convincingly proves that someone who knows how to manage a sail can cope with managing an entire state. About the features of sailing and possible ways of its development - in an interview with a member of the Presidium of the All-Russian Sailing Federation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "PIRogovo", Master of Sports, Champion of Russia in the "Dragon" class Artem Kuznetsov.

You are active in various sports. Which of them are closest to you?

Indeed, sport takes a significant place in my life. On the one hand, I participate in dynamic competitions such as sailing races. On the other hand, I also like games that require precise calculation, endurance, self-control, such as golf. These sports promote both physical and mental development.

What is sailing for you

Having tried myself as a yachtsman for the first time, I realized that sailing is a special sport, incomparable in sensations to any other. Sailing races evoke a certain feeling when, having overcome the elements, it seems that you can overcome any obstacles in life.

Today, sailing is an integral part of my life. My children are learning sailing skills, the eldest son has already participated in the Russian Championship in the eM-Ka class, where he showed good results. I believe that the lessons in the children's sailing school will definitely help children in the future. After all, sailing disciplines the child very much, strengthens health, educates abstract thinking, develops knowledge in the field of physics, mathematics and geometry, teaches, despite the difficulties, to achieve the tasks and goals set.

That is, in your opinion, it is better to join the sail from an early age?

Undoubtedly. For children, this is, first of all, a school of life. Understanding how to apply the knowledge gained at school in practice. Sailing helps to overcome your own fear and persevere towards the result. They develop courage, agility, and reaction speed, as well as strength, endurance, and body control. It is not easy to learn yachting, but this is the philosophy of sport, the philosophy of success in life!
Unfortunately, today it can be stated that such a bright, beautiful and promising sport as yachting is experiencing difficulties with young personnel, primarily due to the lack of professional educational organizations. To solve these problems, it is necessary to create specialized sailing schools and yacht clubs.

Such as, for example, in "PIRogovo"?

"PIRogovo" is a good example. It is a wonderful yacht club with an excellent team of coaches, equipped with an open mooring for boats and a boathouse. In "PIRogovo" they organize and hold bright and important events for the country, such as the Championship of Russia in the "Dragon" class, "Banking Cup", "Silver Dragon Cup", "Family Races", the Championship of Russia in sailing in the yacht class "eM-Ka". By the way, it is in "PIRogovo" that the largest fleet of "Dragons" in Russia is based. Here they created a fleet of "eM-Ka" centerboard boats. And during the season, competitions in various classes are held every week.
It is important that PIRohovo pays a lot of attention to the Children's Sailing School. The guys go through all the basics of sailing, learn yachting from professional coaches, participate in various competitions. This largely solves the problem of development and popularization of yachting, promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Your wishes to those who still doubt whether to go sailing or not.

I would advise such people to try at least once to go on a yacht into open water. I am sure that having experienced new feelings, a person will remain faithful to the sail forever.
For the rest, I wholeheartedly wish to go full sail towards happiness!
