Maldives reopens to tourists almost without restrictions

Many tourist resorts are either closed this year, or operating under a huge amount of restrictive measures.

The reason for this is the coronavirus pandemic. The Maldives is one of the most popular tourist destinations, so travelers from different countries were worried about the inability to relax there, sunbathe on the coast and drive boats in the local bays.

However, the local authorities have abandoned quarantine measures, and the islands are again ready to receive guests. At the same time, there are practically no restrictions on holidays in the Maldives. Travelers arriving at Velana International Airport, located in the capital, do not need to spend the usual two weeks in self-isolation. They don't even need to present a negative coronavirus test.

In order to make up for lost time and attract as many tourists as possible, the authorities of the Maldives did not introduce additional requirements for presenting a visa, and there are no new commissions. But travelers should not climb into the residential areas of the local population and can only move around the resort islands. In addition, you must immediately indicate the length of stay on the islands and register at the same hotel.

An exception will be cases where there are transit agreements. Otherwise, the fight against coronavirus is assigned to each resort separately, each hotel has its own methods of confronting the pandemic and observing quarantine, which tourists must adhere to.
